The morning prayer offered the theme of loneliness, taking an extract from Jean Vanier’s book Community and Growth. The prayer also had a beautiful song on the Dark Night of the Soul.
Donal then went on to explore the various phases of childhood development with regard to sexuality, and invited the Brothers to share their experiences of growing up. He stressed the importance of our earliest memories becoming integrated so that subsequent phases could be met with appropriate responses.
Then, he moved to the adolescent phases, and once again encouraged the Brothers to talk about their own experiences of adolescence. During the sharings, the Brothers demonstrated a refreshing openness.
