Northern Friends for Development

Today, Tuesday, November 7, the Orientation Program had a visit from Northern Friends for Development ( NFD ).  Hawulatu Inusah and two of her protégés, Salamatu and Alimatu,  shared their stories.  The organization seeks to address unemployment of young women in Northern Ghana and the resulting consequences.  Hawulatu began the NGO in 2005 with the assistance of people from Holland.  She had a spiritual awakening at an early age and was able to start NFD but due to internal issues she had to stop for some time.  She has been able to revive the program and it is off to a good beginning again.   Salamatu shared that she is very different from her female age mates because she has a source of income that gives her a sense of independence.  According to Hawulatu, God is her inspiration, advisor and source of life.  An excellent question and answer period followed.
